Where to Have Your Adventure Photo Session in Western North Carolina

Updated: Apr 16

Before we begin I'd like to make something very clear. I hear this common misconception way too often from couples:

"But Deanna, we're not the most outdoorsy people so maybe this isn't a good idea for us" ..

Let me reassure you ..

1. You do not have to be the most outdoorsy couple.

2. You do not have to be a couple who goes rock climbing or hiking every single weekend.

Adventure Sessions are meant to be a personalized, unique experience for each couple.

So, what an adventure session looks like for you may be the complete opposite for a different couple and you know what? That's 100% OKAY. The great thing about the state of North Carolina is that we literally have it all here! Whether you enjoy the beach, mountains, trails, waterfalls, or forests, North Carolina has exactly what you're looking for.

Choosing a location doesn't have to be overwhelming or stressful. I encourage all of my couples to reflect upon the following questions when deciding where they want to go for their experience:

  1. What are your hobbies and interests?

  2. What do you enjoy doing together on the weekends?

  3. What type of location aligns with your personalities?

  4. Is there a place that holds special significance in your relationship (first date, vacation, etc)?

  5. Where do you feel most comfortable and natural together?

  6. Where do you not like to go (and why)?

  7. If you could travel anywhere together right now, where would that be?

  8. What do you want to remember most when looking back at your photos 2 years from now?

Once couples answer those questions they're able to narrow down their location options and choose the best place and start planning (the best part)!!

The Blue Ridge Parkway and Appalachian Mountains are both great options. Check out some of my favorite adventure session spots in Asheville, North Carolina!
